Traveling Public
The Runway Group is developing the Traveling Public concept on Emma Street. It is being built on the site of the former Ryan's department store and adjacent lot. The four story, 69,000 square feet mixed use development will consist of apartments, two restaurants, and commercial spaces. It will also include a public gathering space called Traveling Public. The Traveling Public space will feature candlepin bowling, coffee, and meeting spaces.
Gene George Boulevard Extension
Work is progressing on the extension of Gene George Boulevard. The current phase will extend Gene George from Bleaux Avenue to Elm Springs Road. The new section includes a new bridge over Brush Creek. The project also includes adding roundabouts at the intersections of Elm Springs Road and Har-Ber Avenue. The city is expecting to complete the current phase summer 2020. Long term plans include extending Gene George Boulevard to Johnson Mill Road and to the Springdale Northern Bypass. The project is being funded by the 2018 bond program approved by voters in February 2018.
Shaw Family Park
The Shaw Family Park is being built on 121 acres near Ball Road and W. Downum Road in Northwest Springdale. The new park will include several ponds, walking trails, a splash pad, tennis courts, and a dog park. The park will be the second largest park in the city of Springdale behind J.B. Hunt Park. The park is being funded as a part of the 2018 bond program approved by Springdale voters in February 2018. Opening is expected to be later in 2020.
J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center
The nature center is being built on 61 acres east of I-49 near the Wagon Wheel Road exit. The center will feature 22,000 square feet of indoor exhibits focused on conservation, restoration, and education. The center will also include an indoor and outdoor archery range, 25 acres dedicated to the restoration of quail habitat, and outdoor trails including a future connection to the Razorback Greenway. Admission will be free. Opening is expected Fall 2020.
Highlands Oncology Group
The Highlands Oncology Group is building a new location near the I-49 Don Tyson Parkway exit. The new 5 story, 125,000 square foot building is nearing completion. Highlands Oncology expect employees to begin moving in at the end of June. They expect to begin to see patients by the middle of July. About 200 employees will work in the new Springdale building. They also plan to hire between 25 and 30 new staff members.
Jiffy Lube
Jiffy Lube is opening a new franchise near the Elm Springs Wal-Mart on Elm Springs Road. Springdale's Jiffy Lube will be the 5th location in Arkansas. Nationwide there are over 2000 Jiffy Lube locations. Jiffy Lube offers oil changes, tire rotations, and other automotive preventive maintenance services.
Maple Street Extension
Maple Avenue is being extended from Holcomb Street to Park Street. The extension will include a new railroad crossing and be a three-lane road with a center turn lane. The project is being funded by the 2018 bond program approved by voters in February 2018.
Criminal Justice Building
The criminal justice building is being built in downtown Springdale next to the current city administration buildings. It will be home to the city's police department, information systems department, criminal investigation division, city attorney's office, and district court. The project is being funded by the 2018 bond program approved by voters in February 2018. In a future phase, the city will renovate the existing administration building and connect it with the new criminal justice building.
